ABOUT US
Optical Surveillance
Systems has been serving the law enforcement community for thirteen
years, since 1990. We are family owned and operated.
Our background in precision optics for the astronomical community led
to a simple inquiry by a soon-to-be Texas Ranger. The result
was our first sale
and his advice to offer our products to the law enforcement market
because “we
don’t know about these products and we need them!”
We immediately began a mail campaign to market our precision optics
combined with emerging technologies in “board”
cameras and other
video surveillance equipment to law enforcement nationwide.
In 1991 our Ranger friend once again made a timely suggestion that we
get into the mobile video market and in 1992 VIDEO PATROL™
came to market.
Offering simplicity of operation, ease of installation, and
service with a human touch, many
departments began using and praising our affordable systems.
In 1997 we moved from our original location in Ardmore, Oklahoma to the
Dallas-Ft. Worth metroplex. In recent years we have introduced two new
VIDEO PATROL
models and have recently introduced SPY•STIK, a fiber-optic
inspection
tool of great help to interdiction units. It is also perfect
for contraband
searches in jails and prisons, security searches of lockers and similar enclosures, and crime scene
investigations. Four additional new products are now being
developed and will soon be introduced.
In 2005, Biff moved OSSI to the stunning Pacific Northwest to be near
grandchildren. At the same time, Judith left to take care of our
parents in Oklahoma. We added a Sales Representative, John Marinelli,
and a new Office Manager, Martha Niemi.
